The Midwest and West regions are pleased to announce the line-up for the 2017 Midyear Retreat on March 30 and 31st at Stanford University in sunny northern California! The retreat will begin at 6pm on Thursday, March 30th with a dinner gathering at “Buca di Beppo,” located in the heart of Downtown Palo Alto. We have reserved a private room from 6pm – 8pm with “happy hour” beginning at 6:00 and dinner at 6:45pm. Transportation to and from the host hotel, Crowne Plaza Cabana, to “Beppo’s” will be provided.

On Friday, March 31st the main program will be held high in the Stanford University Stadium Skybox! Stanford’s new stadium was unveiled in 2006.  Stanford Stadium has hosted many historic events including presidential nomination speeches, Olympic soccer matches, World Cup soccer matches and of course,  numerous college football games. The program will begin promptly at 7:45 am and breakfast and lunch will be provided.

The theme for this year’s Midwest/West Midyear retreat is “Academic Medicine – A Look Forward.” With the theme in mind, we have planned an exciting program with topics to include Precision Medicine Health, Global Surgery, Surgical Innovation, Surgical Research and the Affordable Care Act. We will also tour and participate in the Clinical Anatomy Bioskills Labs. We look forward to seeing you all in California!

Air Travel
Attendees have two options for air travel. You can fly into San Jose International Airport (SJC) which is 25 minutes (17 miles) from Stanford University or San Francisco International Airport (SFO) which is 30 minutes (26 miles) from Stanford University.
